Tower Gardens has an active community that organises picnics, gardening and volunteering in the local park and around the estate, shares tools and helps each other. We have a Residents Group, and an active Friends of Tower Gardens that coordinates volunteering in the park.
If you are would like to join in, check out the calendar below, have a look around, and make sure to join our WhatsApp Community, mailing lists, etc.
There is also a list of useful links and information, such as parking, ward councillors, and more in a separate page.
Tower Gardens Residents Group

Tower Gardens Estate has a Residents Group whose aim is to bring together all residents in the Tower Gardens Estate area, and to be involved in the protection and preservation of Tower Gardens’ unique conservation area.
Friends of Tower Gardens Park
Friends of Tower Gardens are a group of local residents who meet regularly to improve the park and make it a safe, inviting place for all residents, and anyone else that wants to use the park.

Conservation Area and Article 4 Direction

Most of Tower Gardens is a Conservation Area, and also covered by an Article 4 Direction. This is to preserve the character and quality of the built fabric, and it means that changes to properties likely require planning approval.
Allotments
Tower Gardens was built as one of the first LCC cottage estates, and from the very beginning there was a strong focus on self-sufficiency and growing, both in gardens and in the many allotment sites planned in the area – there was originally one 5 pole plot for every five houses. Most allotment sites are still present. More information about tenancies and prices is available from the Haringey Council website.

Emergency Plan

Tower Gardens Community Corner has received a small grant to develop a community emergency plan for our local area.
Litter picking events
Both the Tower Gardens Residents Group and Friends of Tower Gardens organise litter picking on the estate. The two groups share litter pickers, children’s litter pickers, and bag hoops. Veolia provide us with bags and can be asked to pick up filled bags.

Gardening

There is an informal group of residents who get involved in gardening in the public spaces on the estate. The focus is usually on the flower beds around Waltheof Gardens, opposite Walden Road, and the entrances to the park.
We have been supported by: Haringey Council for spring bulbs; RHS for seeds; CPRE for hedging and tools.
