Tower Gardens Community Corner is a resident-led community interest company (CIC) — run by and for the people who live on the Tower Gardens estate.

We started out as a constituted group: a handful of neighbours campaigning for a proper community space on the estate, and to save 100 Tower Gardens Road from being sold to developers. In December 2025 we took the next step and became an incorporated community interest company (CIC). Being a CIC lets us hold leases, sign contracts and apply for funding — and it comes with a statutory “asset lock”, which simply means everything we own and any money we make has to be used for the community, not for private profit. Longer term, the group will review what structure will provide the best legal and financial framework to own property, run a social enterprise, ensure estate buildings are permanently protected for community benefit, and ensure democratic decision making.

What we’re working on

Running the Tower Gardens Park building. In summer 2026 we took on the lease of the building in Tower Gardens Park. We’re now getting it ready to open up for everyone to use, starting with community events like our recent summer fiesta. It’s the first space we’ve been able to bring into community hands — and a big step forwards!

Securing 100 Tower Gardens Road. Our longer-term goal is to bring 100 Tower Gardens Road back into use as a permanent community hub! We’re building the case and put a proposal to the council for a space the whole neighbourhood can share.

Raising the money to make it happen. Along the way we’ve been fortunate to win support from the Mayor of London’s Community Weekend, the SIB Reach viability fund, the National Lottery and a local crowdfunder.

Who we are

Our directors are all Tower Gardens residents, supported by an advisory board of people with experience in community buildings, architecture, heritage, governance and community wealth building. We work hand in hand with local groups including the Tower Gardens Residents Group and the Friends of Tower Gardens.
