100 Tower Gardens Road
A resident-led vision to bring 100 Tower Gardens back to life for the use and benefit of the community
Latest news
- Haringey Council plans to sell the old estate office at 100 Tower Gardens Road

- September’s Community Celebration welcomed well over 200 residents into the building, and was lots of fun!

A community vision

Our goals are to:
- Create a welcoming space
- Build a multi-use hub that is accessible to all, including people with disabilities, older
people, and families with small children who may find it hard to access facilities further away - Become a retrofit exemplar and hub, showcasing and promoting sustainable and cost saving solutions relevant to the area
- Protect and enhance the heritage of the building and the estate
- Promote environmental and sustainability campaigns in the neighbourhood, in conjunction with others
We’re working on updating our vision with all the great ideas from the last event! For now, the first draft is still available as a PDF document.
Created by residents
We ran an online survey and have held two events at the building, at which we spoke to over 350 people.
People asked for:
- A place to meet their neighbours, host community meals and events
- A space for community groups, and for hire
- Activities for wellbeing and health, as well as cultural and art events and exhibitions
- … and lots more!
People don’t want the building to:
- Attract lots of cars
- Be too noisy – it’s a residential area
- Be expensive
- Exclude anyone through the regeneration of the building

Background

Local residents have been wanting a community space for over 100 years – when it was first promised in the original estate plans.
Originally, the building at 100 Tower Gardens Road was the estate office. The building has then been used as a SureStart centre, a nursery, and as offices for the charity HomeStart. Over the years, it has also been used for community events and meetings. The building is now empty.
Who is involved?
In December 2024, a group of residents were able to view the inside of the building. A constituted group of residents – called Tower Gardens Community Corner – was then formed to push for community use of the building. The group members have varied backgrounds and experience, including expertise in community-led projects and community assets, but we’re sure there’s more untapped energy and expertise in the area, and we need everyone!
This is a local, community project, so we try to keep everyone informed at every step of the journey. We use this website, the WhatsApp Community and instagram to share news, and are in the process of streamlining our mailing lists …
